Reviews of books traditionally from the Fantasy genre, not Romance, and some science fiction.
I kept hearing about how great this series was and the first book was going for a reduced price, so I gave it a try. As Fantasy goes, it's okay. All the ingredients are there. The characters have a certain amount of appeal and the plot moves along at a reasonable pace most of the time.
So why only three stars? It just didn't have that Wow factor for me. I remember getting totally obsessed with some of the better known classics of the Fantasy genre and while a lot of more recent Fantasy is good, the total involvement is a rare thing (see my 5 star ratings for those who made the grade).
I did care about the characters, but not enough to read further in the series.
